The Moral of the Story?

is what? I feel like Phone Booth did the whole 'a ringing phone has to be answered' bit loads better. and in that you felt the main character go through a journey without leaving the phone booth. He goes from a corrupt sleazy man to a remorseful one confessing what he's done. In this Chris Evan runs around pulling off the most ridiculous moves. The scene where he held up the cell phone store at *beep* gunpoint was laughable. The husband saved the tape and put it in a safety deposit box for what? If you wanted to protect your family why not destroy it? or relocate? or hey just stay out of sh*t that has nothing to do with you. The one and only good thing about this movie was Kim Basinger, she kicked ass. When Etan goes 'that b!tch has more fight that you' i had to laugh because Evan's was pathetic in this.

What am i supposed to take away from this movie?

Just because it was written by the same guy who wrote PHONE BOOTH, doesn't mean it's also a morality tale (it's not). That being said, there is a sort of message. The movie starts by showing RYAN as selfish and irresponsible. JESSICA even says so to him. By the end of the movie, he has changed.

Going in and staying for the long haul can sometimes reap benefits in strange ways.🐭

I doubt he really changed by the end of the movie.
No "bad" person would risk their life for someone on the phone they never met.
To go through all of that, he must have been a pretty good person already, Biel's character just never saw it before (or to that extent).

I didn't say he was; I said that he was selfish and irresponsible.
