Ugh, Diane Keaton was miscast (too annoying and wrinkled)

Sorry, but she's never been known for her hotness (some women just aren't sexy no matter how pretty they may be look-wise).

And while she's kept fit, she just looks like a granny who can't accept she doesn't have it anymore (and probably never did, some people like her have that "old/granny" look even when young, the ones that make you think "boy that person was NEVER young")

Not to say Jack is any better (he only got that much trim because of his fame and money, if he had neither he would have had to pay for it after hitting 40 if not earlier).

But maybe somebody like Sigourney Weaver would have been better (check out Heartbreakers to see what a red hot 51 year old SMART/INTERESTING woman actually looks like). Hell even right now she would be better (she's of the blessed few who "has it" and retains it somehow even in old age, like Monica Belluci).

I love Diane Keaton and I thought she was perfect in this movie. I can't imagine anyone else in this role.

I thought she looked gorgeous in this movie, particularly on her first date with Julian.

Disagree. I think she is an attractive, sexy woman.

The story wasn't meant to be about a great beauty like Monica Bellucci, it was meant to be about a woman who's intelligent and charming and fun to be around, and who's also physically attractive in a mature way. A movie like this fails or succeeds on the leading character's personality - it works if the audience likes her and sympathizes with her, and if her looks have overshadowed her personality then the film as a whole would not be a success - so Monica Bellucci wasn't cast. (Although I bet Susan Sarandon was considered.)

But I've always thought that Sigourney Weaver and Diane Keaton are roughly equivalent in looks, both charming and good-looking women but neither has ever been a great beauty. But since Weaver is about a foot taller than Jack Nicholson, maybe that gave Keaton the edge.
