Actually, yes..now that you mention it..he kind of is. I respect his film "Inglorious Basterds" and acknowledge that is is a well-made film. I just find most of his other works kind of silly..

If Tarantino had directed you can guarantee he would have better lead actors in it.

Yeah, he could cast John Travolta and Brad Pitt in the leads. Then it would be a MASTEREPIECE.
