Suuuuch a let down
When I read this book it left me itching and twitching like there some while new way to look at life, and I'm obviously not alone in that response.
There have only been a handful of movies that have me any similar feeling: Fear and Loathing, Mash, Apocalypse Now, Fight Club, etc. Some of these movies delivered a unique message, some delivered a unique style. This movie, I feel, missed the boat in that department. There have been so many other "inspiring" road movies made, i.e. Motorcycle Diaries, and someone in another post mentioned Easy Rider (another itching/twitching film), that's it's nearly impossible to understand how the producers/director of this movie thought this was gonna cut it. If you want quirky, it's already out there. There didn't seem to be a single risky move in this film about a book that rides on waves of risk. If you want On the Road, unfortunately, you're gonna have to keep waiting.
