In her they had a super-hot super-slutty chick who would do pretty much anything to/for them. They both seemed to have a major soft-spot for her too. But then when she left, they both seemed to just shrug it off. Am I missing something?

shareI think she finally realized they were all objects to Dean. Objects to be picked up and used, then discarded. I think she knew it was coming and was thinking about what she really wanted from life. I think Sal thought he was different, he thought Dean felt differently about him, compared especially to the women. Then he was dumped. Of course I never read the book, but that is the impression I got from the movie.
