garrett hedlund was horribly cast for this. he did not reflect dean from the book at all.

If he did not reflected the Dean from the book then you should blame the screenwriters.

Garrett Hedlung made a fanstastic job playing the broken anti-hero.

I agree. But mostly because he looked and acted too contemporary. Sam Riley as Sal was even worse though. His performance felt like his character was just a bystander in the story of which he was a main character.
