the movie makes it point
just watched it for the first time in 19 years. a resounding 7/10
shareWhat is its point? Serious question.
Background: I discussed this movie for years on IMDb. (Colin had to keep adding servers to keep up with the load, primarily on this one board.)
I had to give the film an odd, grudging admiration -- or rather, give it to Gibson -- because he'd created a movie that seemed to reinforce the beliefs of everyone who saw it, from whatever background, perspective, or point of view. Although, that wasn't true for everybody. Some saw what Gibson later explained to EWTN he'd thought he'd created.
Anyway, what do YOU think the movie was trying to convey?
IMO...it's that Jesus suffered a horrible, violent death. Physically, psychologically...Isaiah 53:5: "But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and with His stripes we are healed."
It's a 9/10 from me.
shareI've never watched it. I love Jesus Christ Superstar 10/10. The Last Temptation of Christ was like a 4/10 but the ending was 9/10. Every year I say I'm going to read the book, and I never do.
