1/2 star is ridiculous. The cinematography alone is worth a star or two. The film's score (which was Oscar nominated) was very well done and Jim Caviezel's performance is excellent.
shareWhen the film came out, Mel Gibson came under attack in the press and elsewhere for alleged "Antisemitism". I think it was quite clear there this film became a clashing point for the right-left culture wars, so a cinematic portrayal of the most important story in Christianity was the target of the left's ire.
