NO DUTCH ACTORS?

Yes, it´s a british production...but how a film based in 17th century Netherlands, with dutch characters and filmed on location does not have a single speaching actor of dutch origin? Not that I know any other dutch actors than Rutger Hauer... but Netherlands is not properly the hardest place to film and to get more than extras, don´t you think?

reply

it is not because they are not known in hollywood that there are no good actors. Believe some actors CHOOSE to stay in their country where they can at least act in decent plays, films and tv series in stead of going to hollywood where they probably have to play in crap hollywoodfilms to get any kind of fame before they finally can play in productions they support.

Like Jan Decleir he was offered the role of vilain in the Bond movie:
'the world is not enough' and also in "Eyes wide shut" and he declined because he already had appointments in theathre and he felt it would be wrong to go back on his word because these people counted on him.

Anyway, the netherlands have A LOT of very good actors and i don't know where you get the idea it is hard to film or get good actors

Jan Decleir is from Belgium, not the Netherlands

No one knows for certain how much of impact they have on the lives of others. Often we have no clue

reply

Belgium has two official languages, French and Flemish. The latter is a Dutch dialect.

British film for English-speaking audiences. They used English accents (more or less) for everyone...why would they need Dutch actors? Just because it's set there? They probably didn't even film it there.

reply

i think it was filmed in luxemburg and also Belgium (Brugge), as i vaguely remember
