Music 'Griet's Theme'

I can't believe no one opened a topic about the film music in this movie.
It is one of my favorites, I've listened to it for 2 years now (luckily European classic radios play it so I find about it), and thank God You tube shows this movie so I finally watched it.

Anyone else first listened to the title music "Griet's Theme" and then watched this film?

The album was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music.

I never heard the music before I saw the movie, so my situation is different from yours. However, I love the soundtrack so much that I usually put in on to play while I'm going to sleep. 

I didn't know about those nominations; thank you for posting that!

Desplat is one of my favorite film composers. His work in this is brilliant, yet so different from his Moonrise Kingdom score (which is equally amazing).

His work reminds me of another favorite, James Newton Howard, who scored many of M. Night Shyamalin's films.
