How many times have we seen this from Hollywood?
Forbidden lusting after another and it drones on and on. Very disappointed.
Only redeeming things in movie are costuming, cinematography and settings. Now those are amazing.
Would have LOVED an interesting plot.
The plot of the book is definitive, but almost all of the action is detailed via one person's internal monologue. It makes for interesting reading, but I don't believe it could ever make a gripping film. Internal monologue doesn't work well on camera, for obvious reasons. I see the film as more of a window into a world, rather than a linear plot within it. At that much, it excels.
