Bill Paxton's Best Role

This movie is, without a doubt, Bill Paxton at his best. He is so great as Coconut Pete. Second to this is his performance in the Twister: Ride It Out pre-show video at Universal Orlando.

two words: true lies. thats paxtons best work. this movie sucked and bill should be embarassed to even be in the credits. i dont know what he was thinking by accepting this role.

Its a film you can laugh with. I found it whilst flicking channels and at first thought ... hmm lol, but after a while it developed a cult status for me and I love it. Love the laid back Pete character, the fact he's played by Bill makes him even more likable. Coconut Pete is certainly my fave Bill Paxton character.

Actually, Paxton approached Broken Lizard about playing Coconut Pete because he loved the script and the character of Coconut Pete. According to Paxton: "I not only enjoyed this script but I loved this iconic character named Coconut Pete with his unbridled lust and his unapologetic hedonism. I also liked that when the film gets scary, it really gets scary." and "I think the film has a terrific and original sense of humor."

I would, at least, put his part in Frailty also ahead of Coconutz Pete. Along with virtually every other role he's had. This just had to be embarrasing after he saw the final product.

Paxton actually loves the movie. Listen, kiddo. Humor is subjective. You didn't like the comedy, that doesn't mean it's inherently unfunny.

But it does mean gkpete is inherently unfunny.

surprised to read.

i thought they would have begged paxtons to be in this turd!

his character was only good thing in this film!

reply

His best role was in Aliens. He made that movie, well this one too. But every time I think of him it is as Hudson "why don't we put her in charge.'

And of course there is Chet.

"Game Over, man"

Paxton's roles that were better than Club Dread

Aliens
Frailty
Twister
Apollo 13
Tombstone
Terminator
U-571
A Simple Plan
Trespass
Predator 2

all better roles than Club Dreadful

reply

Come on, guys! Near Dark! He has his best role ever in that one, or at least damn close to Aliens anyway!

reply

I have only liked him in Frailty and Club Dread

reply

And of course there is Chet.

+1!! Can't believe only one person mentioned Weird Science.

"NPH wouldn't do that!"

reply

You beat me to it, Chet was his high water mark and will never be equaled.

reply

You think Eddie Money has to put up with this *beep* -Coconut Pete

reply

I was so glad they put the mp3's Bill Paxton recorded up for download. That "Naughty Cal" song has me rolling every time I listen to it. He was priceless in this movie.

That Eddie Money jab was awesome. And the Pina Colata Burg tantrum cracks me up.

"That son of a son of a b!tch!" :D

"NPH wouldn't do that!"

He was great in "Aliens" "Game over man, game over!" But I think as of right now his best work is on "Big Love". It is a terrific show - Give it a shot, I bet you'll like it. 8-)

Thanks for the recommendation mcfitzillery, I haven't ever had those premium channels but more and more it seems like the only good TV series these days are from the premium channels.

As for Bill Paxton, I didn't even realize he was in half the movies you guys have brought up. I've seen almost all of them but most of them I saw when I was a small child so I had no recollection.

reply

His best role. I didn't think he would be ever LOL funny.

reply

Now I gotta look up Coconut Pete's music.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

reply

I disagree. I think his best role is the father in Frailty.

He was at this best in Aliens.

Nice! I’ll have to check this out at some point!

IMO Chet is by leaps and bounds his best role. I still use the following quotes all the time, and I do mean all the damn time:

"How about a nice, greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?"

"But first I'd like to butter your muffin."

"Because I get off on it!"

reply

Do you realize it’s snowing in my room goddamnit?

I was screaming this about an hour ago at work.

He has some great roles but Chet is God level.
