Dumbledor's trust towards Snape?

From where does this strong trust in Snape comes? In this film Dumbledore said "Snape was a Deatheater but now is no more a Deatheater than I am".
At the end it ended up Snape being the most loyal friend and the person Dumbledore trusted the most.
I find it really odd that Dumbledore trusted him with his most secret plans thinking he was spying on Voldemort for him (which he did) but how could Dumbledore be so sure in that, how he wasnt in doubt even a little bit that Snape might be actually spying on Dumbledore for Voldemort? I mean he was a Deatheater, even Siruos says that no one ever stops being a Deatheater,

Have you read or viewed "Deathly Hallows", the last book of the series?

It's all explained there.

I have somewhat, but it was some time ago and I don't recall all the scene the best, sorry.

Would you mind explaining to me?

Snape was in love with Harry's mother who was his best friend when he was a child. They had a falling out when Snape called her "mudblood" in a moment of humiliation after being bullied by James Potter and his friends. When he heard Lily's life was at risk, he came to Dumbledore to make sure she was hidden and protected.

When the protection failed and she died, he dedicated himself to protecting Harry despite hating him also for being his father's son. Dumbledore knew his grief for Lily was absolutely genuine and trusted him because of this although he perhaps underestimated the true depth of Snape's love for her.

You're right on all counts. Love is a powerful thing.
