so sad what he did to Shelley Duval

I could't add on to my original post, but now there is a boycott of his Jerry Springer like show

again, I used to watch it, but hes as since and professional as Jerry himself

he only cares about viewership and money

how could anyone put that on television........the time a person who is mentally ill and her counselor should remain private

she isn't mentally fit to make that decision..SHAME SHAME ON THIS SHOW

I will NEVER, NEVER watch this disgusting show again........pure garbage

She's not the first poor soul to be exploited by Dr. Phil, he exploits every guest. There have been many mentally ill people on the show. Mostly nameless faces, this time we were confronted with a familiar person, someone we admire and feel like we know. So now that someone recognizable has been victimized by him, we're all up in arms. Shame on us for watching even though we knew he was scumbag. Shame on us for continuing to watch the car crash. We made a show like Ms. Duvall's possible. Hopefully this will be a catalyst for a decline in ratings and distaste for everything Dr. Phil so he will fade away into obscurity.

If you were among those hoping that the appalling public display of a clearly ill Shelley Duvall today for a Dr. Phil November sweep broadcast would at least have ended in his getting her into the treatment facility where, he claimed, the best specialists would treat her physical and mental illnesses, you were disappointed. “After three days at the treatment center, Shelley still refused to take any medications and she would not sign the paperwork required to treat her,”…

Oh,please--nobody made her go on the show, she went of her own accord, I'm sure. At least he did actually try to get her some help.

activista, try educating yourself a little.

When someone is suffering from mental illness they're not in a position to have the expression "went of her own accord" applied, you see they really don't have "their own accord", get it now?

To use your logic the 7 year old lured into the car by the pedophile went of their own accord.

Let's not bring logic, IQ, experience, or mental state into right? PLEASE.

How is it helpful to put someone with that kind of mental illness in front of lights and cameras? If he knew anything about someone with psychosis he should know better then to do this.

Ball me Blazer.

I am not buying her act

I couldn't watch. Exploiting a mental illness for ratings is unconscionable. Yes, I'm sure Dr. Phil offered help at the end of the program, the predictable Santa Claus routine, but letting a woman speak to the nation about her delusions so he could up his ratings was the lowest act possible.
