Do people generally feel

like this movie leans more towards the 'feel' of a Freddy or a Jason movie? When it first came out, I thought it seemed more like a Jason movie. But twenty years later, I just gave it a good re-watch and decided that it might just be a solid 50/50 blend of the two. What do y'all think?

I wasn't a big Freddy fan, but for sure it felt like a glorified Jason movie.

I feel it is a 50/50 feel. Freddy only has one kill on screen (technically 3 if you count Mark's brother and Lori's mom) but he is focused on almost as much as Jason is I feel. And let's face it, aside from Part 2 Freddy never had a large amount of kills in his movies. Heck, in Nightmare part 5, Freddy only had like 3 kills the whole movie.

It feels like neither.

This dumpster fire was directed by someone that had never even seen a Nightmare or Friday film. New Line had a once in a lifetime opportunity and they fucked it up so bad.

I always considered it a Freddy movie, guest starring Jason.

Yes, Jason got the vast majority of the kills, but Jason was always more about high body count than Freddy. And Freddy drove the story. Which was the right decision, as he was the one who spoke. But it did feel like he was leading the film than Jason.

Also, most of the film was in the setting of Elm Street. They only move to Crystal Lake towards the end.
