1. Was Evie lying about being abused and molested? I did see a huge scar on her back, but she was extremely manipulative and would say anything to get her way.

2. Why did Tracy scream before the credits rolled?

I wouldn't doubt that Evie came from a history of abuse. But she was definitely manipulative, and more than likely lied / embellished the truth, to gain sympathy from Tracy's mom.

And the reason Tracy screamed at the end, i guess was to symbolize a sense of expression and freedom, a release of all the negativity.

1. No, not lying. At least not totally. Watch out in the scene where the girls come out dressed up all weird in the back yard. Holly Hunter's character is reading a newspaper clipping about Evie's Uncle getting jailed. So there's some truth to it.

The movie is based on one of the actresses adolescent years, the only thing that’s truthful from the movie is the fighting the mother, and the daughter. Everything else is fabricated from Hollywood to get viewers or money.

Yeah, I know it's fiction. I mean within the story of the film.
