Alison Lohmam was superb !

I don't think she gets enough credit for pulling off the role of a 14 yr. old, although being much older. Physically she obviously appeared younger but to her credit she captured the spirit of a teenager in every nuance of her performance. I especially found the final scene in the carpet shop so endearing, as Cage resigned to what happened, maintains a lingering affectation for her despite it. She in turn calling him "dad" upon leaving gave the scene a unique bittersweet quality. All things aside, the relationship of the pair was really something special.

Lohman completely had me fooled. While the movie was playing, I came here to see comments and y'all are completely right about her performance. In fact, for the bulk of the movie I was totally sold that she was a teen. Then I thought that she had made other movies playing an older age after this film. And her age turned out to be in her early 20's in this. And it still didn't tip me to the twist concerning her. She was superb.

Maybe she captured the spirit of a teenage girl, because she was one once.

It's not as if she was playing a doctor, or an astronaut, and had to learn or project what that might be like.....but with all that said, I agree she was excellent in the role.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

I beg to differ.
