Did ya'll notice that scene in Africa before they go to where the Cradle is...where Lara is talking with the tribesman & they need Djimon to translate? But then the scene right after when they're walking toward the mountain, the tribal dude says “You are right.” in his native language after Lara says the “Cradle is getting closer…” in English.

So do these aboriginal Africans know English or not?! I read all the “goofs.” It was never mentioned.
This little inconsistency is what CEMENTED my rating for this movie as 3 stars…

you don't know any foreign languages, do you? one can understand a few simple words in almost any major language, even if you've never learned it, while speaking it is almost impossible without having learned it. working in an international environment I notice this every day...

lol! you didn't really respond to the question. but to answer yours, yes, I am familiar with other languages--french, spanish, patwa, & german. German the least, but with its many English parallels, like you say, I hope I could get by with the little I know.

Back to the matter at hand: do you actually recall the scene? 80 minutes in. Check it out. There are no contextual clues whatsoever to support what you're suggesting. & although I'm not in an "international environment every day," I would still think it difficult to pick up phrases between a latin-based & a nomadic african dialect.
