All Those Wanting American Actresses...

No, dammit!

Angelina Jolie did a good job of portraying Lara Croft (I'll admit when I first heard it announced for TR:1 I was hesitant), I think that if a new actress was to come in for a third movie then it should under no circumstances be a famous American actress.

Whilst I would gladly see the return of Jolie, I would other wise shun the casting of actresses such as Megan Fox, Denise Richards and such like, for these fundamental reasons:

1. They're not British. For once, let's have a British actress play a British character. Faked accents can really destroy films.
2. They're too famous. Get some new talent in, instead of sticking some Hollywood face on the cover. There's plenty of hot aspiring talent.
3. They don't even bear a slight resemblance to Croft. It seems like these actresses are being blurted out as possibilities simply because they're slim and are brunette.

The problem TR: The Cradle of Life had was that it tried to put so much action in and the "emotional" part of the whole script was a love story between Lara Croft and Gerrard Butler's character. The beauty of TR:1 was that the emotional side of the plot foccussed on her unique relationship with her father. Good movies aren't just about the action and the heroine's breast size.

I'm just following the crowd. They're carrying me, mainly.

So? Brits are all over American television and cinema playing Americans. Don't see why there can't be a few American's playing Brits.

2. They're too famous.

What's that got to do with being American? All Americans are famous?

3. They don't even bear a slight resemblance to Croft.

Slim, brunette, big breasts. Not exactly something Americans can't produce.
