Four years since the release of Cradle of Life and Three years since Jolie announced that she was finished with the Tomb Raider series and it now seems that she may have changed her mind, leaving the franchise open for a third title. The man behind Lara Croft, Ian Livingstone of Eidos Interactive, told The Daily Express that “Paramount has optioned it and Angelina has agreed to star in the third.” Jolie and her husband, Brad Pitt are currently in Namibia awaiting the birth of their next child.
That news is quite old, from last year...since Livingstone said that, nothing has happened except a scriptwriter has been hired, and Paramount have not gone in further in okaying the project...plus Jolie's had two more kids since then, so it is extremely doubtful that she will return...she said she did not want to do any more TR films after Shiloh...and without her, Paramount will probably never say yes.
i think angie will do another tomb raider....i watched an interview wif her promoting a might heart and she was talking about wanted...and how her kids think shes kool that shes playing an assassain. can u imagine how many cool points angie wud get from her kids if mum was lara croft....she wud be the coolest mum ever...i think she wud do it for her kids.
The end result might be cool for them, but I don't think the kids would be so happy about her barely being around during filming. Maybe when they are a little older though.
Seriously? Did you go to school? I understand short-hand but really, "wud" its *beep* spelled would. Here is a simple equation for you, More time spent at a university + less time making erroneous imdb comments = An intelligent vocabulary
Well it dosent look like TR3 will happen anytime soon with the writers strike going on unless they alreday had a scrpit written before the strike happened if they do get a script out soon I hope that Jolie does return as Lara
As long as Angelina Jolie doesn't reprise her role as Lara, I'm fine with. Been a Tomb Raider fan since '99, Angelina doesn't do LC any justice.
They need a competent director/writer, too. The Tomb Raider movies only helped to kill Tomb Raider as a whole. I admit, I even stopped following the games after Angel of Darkness, only now am I getting back into the franchise w/ Legend and Anniversary.
It's not the fact that video game > movie translations suck...it's that they have incompetents that know nothing, or care to know nothing, of the actual "feel" of the game to pull it off.

The creators of the characters are also responsible. They whore out their franchise for a few dollars then, when the movies suck, shrug and say "That's a whole other universe."
Getting back to the games? Um...after 'Angel of Darkness' came 'Legend' and 'Anniversary'...just FYI. You didn't miss anything.
And hey, at least they got the score right with 'Cradle of Life.' Silverstri did a fantastic job, and whether he knew it or not, his theme is actually a variation of, and builds upon, the original Tomb Raider videogames' theme. Woohoo Nathan McCree!!!
I've always loved the TR videogames, and I have to say I also enjoyed the movies as popcorn material, specially the second one... But, if another movie is made, I would love it if it did have something else asides from action scenes and stupid jokes between Lara and a horny male co-star. So, basically, I'm pointing to another kind of movie, with much more character development, more realistic action and a little more dramatic general tone. For that, abviously a new writer and a new director should be hired, and I have to say I always hated Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft... they share no resemblance at all!! I always thought Rhona Mitra would have been the perfect Lara, but since she's probably too old now for this part, specially considering there would most certainly be sequels, I say they should cast Hayley Atwell as Lara!!! But please no more American, blue-eyed, so tough-looking actresses for Lara!!! Who agrees?? I think a great movie could be made if they just started taking Lara and her whole mythology more seriously, not just as a summer action babe.
The resemblance is so great that I thought they modeled the game character off of her.
She's PERFECT for the character, and I seriously doubt that they will do another sequel if she does not agree to doing it. I don't think anyone else would watch it, either.
I mean-- Angelina Jolie is to Laura Croft as Vin Diesel is to Riddick.
Both were MADE to play their respective parts.
Now if only we could combine the two movies. . . .
Anglina Jolie was everything i could have wished for playing Lara Croft. at first when i heard of this 'American woman' who i knew little about, playing our national treasure, i was VERY dubious, but as soon as i saw and heard her i knew she was perfect for the role. It's such a tragedy that Angelina won't be returning for the 3rd film, there is no way anyone will be able to replace her, i'd rather they didn't bother trying. At least i'd have the happy memories that i have from the previous two films, lol.
what about if they were to do a prequel showing how lara became the now infamous tomb raider... her story has only briefly been touched on in the first two... and if i remember the games had aloot of backstory for them to work with it would also make it so angelina didnt nessesarily have to be in it
The first two movies didn't follow the games, so I doubt the third would.
What I see happening is a reboot, of sorts, with a new actress and an even lighter plot that's heavy on action. She has to get some contraption, and along the way shoots people and does lots of flips, while randomly showing off much of her body in a PG-13 James Bond manner.
There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.
Fact, is, you can't have an American being Lara Croft. Jolie was just badly cast in the role, with her 'oh, gosh, oh, gosh' accent (posh Brits don't speak like that). And Megan Fox will just mangle a bad accent as well.
The original Lara in 1996, Natalie Clark (nee Cook) should take the role, as she looks the spitting image of Lara in the games, or Rhona Mitra from Underworld Rise of the Lycans - she is flavour of the month at the moment. These British actresses would be ideal, but please, no Americans with dodgy accents.
I very much dislike the idea of Megan Fox just as much as the rest of you. I feel Jolie should not have been picked to do the first two. The rule should have been the same with James Bond and Harry Potter Characters british actors only! As an American I can tell you there is nothing worse than American trying to do an accent they can't manage.
Jolie as Croft was far from perfect, but the accent was the least of her problems. And that said, at the time she cast it was either her or Elizabeth Hurley, so I think we dodged a really badly-acted bullet there.

I thought Jolie was great in it but then again I was never into the video games and don't know much about Lara's background. And if jolie isn't involved in a possible third film I agree that a British actress should be chosen. But I'd still prefer Jolie.
It's not confirmed Angelina won't be returning and Megan will be replacing. It's all just still rumors! Who knows if the script is good enough and the film is seducing enough they may get Jolie back for a third?
"I was born ready bitch" Samantha James (Just Friends)
The studio would have to be silly to bring her back for a third film if they are planning on rebooting the series and drastically altering the character's origins.

Is there an official board for the next film or is this the only place to discuss it? Anyways I think Hayley Atwell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2017943/) would be a great Lara Croft. She's a good actress, she's from the UK, and she looks the part. Looks are actually not that important to me, acting is most important. With all of the makeup and other tricks they use today, looks just have to be in the ballpark. The only drawback I have is that I haven't seen her do a whole lot of action scenes.
