Warner Bros is planning a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise and bringing Lara Croft back to theaters. No actress has been cast yet, but Angelina Jolie is not expected to reprise her role from after two installments at Paramount Pictures. WB has not selected any writers or a director yet.

The new project is intended to reboot the character Lara Croft, a daredevil archaeologist from the popular video game series. It will “reimagine” the villain, origin, and love interest, according to the trades.

Last week, there was a rumor that Transformers hottie Megan Fox was going to be putting on the signature short shorts and dual pistols. Her representatives have since denied the European reports, but it was early news that WB was trying for another spawn of Lara Croft. The article said they were planning a 2010 start date for release sometime in 2011.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 made almost $275 million worldwide ($131M domestic) warranting another scantily clad adventure into the tombs. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life made just $156 million worldwide ($65M domestic).

I read that one too...
When it says they want to "reimagine" the origin? Does that mean Lara Croft's origin? Change it?
That's how I took it and if they did, it would be ridiculous!

I really don't like Megan Fox as Tomb Raider...She's like a stick and looks too fake. Tomb Raider needs to have a certain tomboyish look about her.

Actually, I didn't even like Megan Fox in Transformers - well, I didn't like her character because I thought she was portrayed as well, stupid. lol She hung out with that one guy a lot (from what I gathered) and then he calls her his little bunny and she just leaves... It makes me think, yeah...I'm sure that's the worst thing he's ever said to you.

Ok...Enough of that. :)

tk_2003, she did'nt just get upset on "I'm not your little bunny", but she spotted Shia Lebouf, and so began her change of heart. If you recall after that scene, she said to Shia that she's always attracted to hot guys with tight abs and stuff, and she realised she's actually into a guy like Shia...so yeahh thats how I saw it..and that big bunny dude was'nt treating her right from the start anyway..you could clearly tell

I think Rhona Mitra is built to play Lara Croft.

That would be awesome.

Did she even recognize him though? I thought that she didn't even realize they were in that many classes together...

I guess it can be interpreted different ways.

I just didn't like her character anyway. lol

I vote neither. Fox is a ho and can't act, and Mitra is too old for a rebooted series. If they are going to hire her, they might as well just bring Jolie back.

There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.

Actually, if I were to cast Lara, I'd go with an unknown. There's already too much baggage involved concerning Lara herself. The last thing you want is to bring in a big name actress.
