My 2 cents on Tomb Raider 3

So they said it will be an origin story reboot.

Ok. Whatever they do, I hope they stick to the game and not make up random crap.

My dream is that they would do a movie based on Tomb Raider 1 with Natla as the bad guy. Maybe even bring Amanda into it so they could set up a sequel and have it end like Underworld does.

I hope they do NOT make Megan Fox as Lara!!! She is NOT Lara!!! The only other choices for me are Rhona Mitra and Kate Beckinsale

She has to have the appearance of being a strong independent woman. Not some bubble gum slut like Megan Fox

I love Kate Beckinsale's acting, but Rhona Mitra IS Lara Croft. She's British. She's modeled as Lara for the game. She's young, hot, and an up and coming actress.

From 1997 to 1998 she was practically Lara so why not have her reprise the role, right?

Rhona is the same age as Angelina. They want to recast with someone younger, a twenty-something, presumably to keep her locked up for the inevitable trilogy.

My vote goes to either Romola Garai, from Atonement and Emma, or Blake Lively.

There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.

TO me, there will only be one Lara and that's Angelina Jolie. I can't imagine another actress taking over.

Another actor taking over a role that initiated in the film's success is not going to work. The 3rd Underworld move didn't really hit well. Cruel Intentions dind't do well with having the characters recast. Many other films that have gone through re-casting have also not done very well. A 3rd Lara Croft without Angelina Jolie will just be another mistake.

Agreed. I'd also say that Angelina as Lara is the ONE (and only) thing that was 100% right about the original TR movies. She was born for the role, IMO, and IS Lara in my eyes. The scripts were average, the direction average-dull, and the whole execution of the movies often bland... but Angelina was Lara every second she was on screen, and I can't imagine wanting to see another young actress-of-the-week play the part (or worse, someone like Megan Fox!).

If there are no more movies, just games, I can live with that. If they DO make a new TR movie, though, I'd want Angelina and I'd want a really good movie this time. Also, you know, you've got Angelina Jolie playing Lara Croft... it's okay to make the movie a bit sexy, you know! Seriously, Angelina herself is hot in the movie, but it seems the director is the only one who can take these ingredients and make a movie that ISN'T especially sexy! Must be some kind of superpower!

Just my two cents, though.

Rhona Mitra is about as old as Angelina Jolie, why would they cast her in TR3. Kate will not do a TR3, ever. It's not her gig, and besides that she's still in demand to make other original movies (well, as original as Hollywood can get these days).

Of course, you can't deny that the ideal would've been Angelina Jolie taking up the offer in 2005/6. Angelina Jolie IS Lara Croft. Recasting the Lara Croft role WOULD be a mistake.

BTW, I thought Underworld 3 did work because it made sense that Kate wasn't in it (until the very end).
