STAY comparison(spoilers )

Has anyone seen the movie Stay? Anyone else notice that they are basically the SAME MOVIE? This one was better though...and that's not saying A LOT, but...it at least took it's main character as the person trying to figure things out and having people he saw before he died or people in his life work their way into the story as pointless characters.

Stay did that too...only it focused around theme(Ewan and Naomi)

These movies' plot and twist are interesting...they're just not carried out as well. I hate it when two movies have nearly the same plot and twist. Bullcrap

spoiler?
I really liked Stay once I figured out what was going on!
the boy's mind was so mixed up in its memories of his past and the things that happened very recently.
i thought Stay was in some ways better than The I Inside because the accident was not the kids fault. I liked that.
And in the I Inside, Simon was at fault in many ways. he caused so much unhappiness in life.

I thought I was the only person to notice this. A lot more people have seen "Stay" than "The I Inside". I like "The I Inside" more because of how many more layers it has, not to mention the ending is much more open-ended than that of "Stay". When you see the trailer for "Stay" you can pretty much guess what the ending is. The main character is dead, well you were close, one of the characters is dead. I'd liken my experience of watching "Stay" to that of watching "The Others". Unlike "Stay" you don't see the ending coming while watching "The I Inside", though in some ways, I think "The Jacket" is closer to this movie than "Stay". What people that compare the two films don't realize is there is good reason for every single thing that the main character sees when he travels back and forward in time, everything is significant in some way. This was not at all the case in "Stay". By comparing the two "Stay" seems all the more like a superficial effort on the part of screenwriter to write a film with a twist ending. "The I Inside" on the otherhand works like a series of metaphors and similes to explain the guilt a man begins to feel over accidentally killing his brother. So much guilt precipitates that he lapses into all out denial of the fact that he has to face the consequences of his actions and starts to believe he can change history. He can't of course, and that's where the movie ends, where he starts the cycle again, still intent on changing history.

Wow,and i thought i was the only one who thought of "The Jacket" while watching this. Im dissapointed that i saw the movie "Stay" before seeing this one because after seeing this i realized that "Stay" was a rip off of this movie and unfortunately it got more credit and recognition. This was much better crafted and played out.Stay on the other hand, you had to be an academic harvard graduate to understand fully.

Yes, that was my thought when I watched this film - endings are almost identical.

I think I would have liked this film better had I not seen Stay before this. It made more sense in the scheme of things, as opposed to Stay which really made no sense and came out of nowwhere. I'm not too keen on "and he died" twists though, really.

Other than that David Lynch film (i know the name, but don't want to spoil anyone who won't have seen it).

I have to say when I saw this movie I totally thought of Stay. The Jacket was kinda dumb to me, but the time travel element makes it similar I suppose. The whole idea of someone hallucinating just before their death or while in a coma isn't exactly a new concept. I liked the movie though, I found it interesting and entertaining. I found Stay to just be kinda weird and pointless and The Jacket was a total waste of time.

I was thinking of Stay since the begging of this movie but I have to say that I think Stay is really a lot better, without comparison.
First, even if the stories are similar, Stay follows a clear line of thought and is simply about a psychological twist...everything in Stay can be explained by neurology, psychiatry, psychology...He was recreating a different story in his mind with everything that was happening around him.

The I inside, mixes a lot of concepts, so it isn't only about the strange way our mind work but also about time traveling and parallel realities (I don't see it like a hell/heaven movie, despite I accept that could had also been the intention of the filmmakers)...and in my opinion, although it is a great movie, it gets a little bit lost between all these concepts...

I don't think any of this movies copy another...but if you really think Stay copied The I Inside, then I think it would be more probable that The I Inside copied Donnie Darko, since in these last two the plot has the same concepts.

I saw Stay a few years ago. I turned this one tonight and seriously had to watch 10-20 minutes before I was assured it wasn't the same movie. I was like "Wait...this plot...I've seen this before, right? But no...I don't remember Stephen Rea being in it...hmm."

I even told myself, if there are flashes of a car accident in the rain near the start, then it IS the movie I've seen. So sure enough when I saw those flashes, then I thought oh okay it IS the movie I've seen. But I remember a scene at an aquarium in Stay where a walrus smashes his nose against the glass, about 20 minutes in. Since I didn't see a walrus tonight after about a half an hour...that's how I knew. lol.
