would have liked the neeson character...
to have stuck around.
shareGodfrey and his posse had a very compelling story that wasn't fleshed out because it was all about getting Legolas to JerusTirith to save it from Sauraladin.
Seriously though, Neesom's character had so much depth and what little we see of his background makes us yearn for more. I also feel that Ridley killed him and his crew off WAAAAY TOO EARLY. I also didn't like the Deus ex Machina of Balian learning expert sword play in 30 seconds well enough that it helped him defeat a trained Muslim Knight, as well as him and thoroughbred horse being the ONLY survivors of that massive shipwreck.
His father was a great man. That was the point. But the movie was about the son, making his own way in the world.
A prequel would have been cool though.
I agree, the first 40 minutes of the directors cut are an absolute masterpiece when it’s focus is on Neeson, Thewlis, McKidd and their band of merry men, I can’t understand why they just discarded McKidd’s character either, he seemed promising.
