To all those that don't like the fake music on the DVDs

So, I bought the DVDs a month ago, not knowing about the music rights issues, only to discover the generic crap that replaced the soundtrack (the loss of In The Air Tonight especially pissed me off). I had previously downloaded the episodes ripped from TV before the DVDs were released because I loved the show, and had no other option. Now, after buying the DVDs, I wanted the video quality, with the soundtrack that contributed my falling in love with the show in the first place, so I ripped the DVDs, took out the entire audio, and replaced it with the audio tracks from the TV airings that I'd had before. It was excruciating to match it all up right, but it was WELL worth it to have DVD quality video with the original music!

It's great that you went to those lengths to correct the issue, I'd probably try to do the same thing if the episodes weren't in fullscreen. I really don't know how they screwed this release up so bad.

hey since you guys know about the original songs that they play in the series episodes, maybe you guys can help me with the 2 songs on 2 different episodes.

1 of the songs is a song that is playing while Deaque is showing off the nice glass-type house by the beach to his partner, and says that he is tired and just wants to hit the silk and dream of jeanie.

the song plays while he is preparing the meals before his private date and that pretty girl comes over

and the 2nd song is the song that plays during the race, the episodes plot is about a kid being pushed around by his crowd, and it ends with the kid ending up in Mexico after setting up Deaqe and his partner.

like i said the song plays during the street race with Deaque and some other guy that he challenges, for some reason Deaque didn't agree to compete with the guy because black people are not known for achievements in watersports, so he was willing to race the guy instead. The song plays during the race its like a rave or trance type of track with no lyrics.
I was really upset when the dvd series came up with other songs instead of the originals that played on TV.

if you guys can help me out i would really appreciate it!!!

the episodes to where these songs can be found on the titles "things done changed" and "dogtown" but the songs are only played in those scenes i mentioned on the tv version, not the dvd version

I fell in love with the show and don't really care about the music on it.

"Karl Larson: Stars die so we may live. We die so stars may be reborn. "

Thats your opinion, but its like changing the Music on Miami Vice.. you just don't do it.. its not kosher.

I hope that someday we get a Blu-Ray with the correct music and widescreen high res. glory :)

I doubt it unless a lot of people sign a petition or something. Another option is to do what the original poster did plus convert the fullscreen into widescreen if you know a little about video encoding.

Hey OP, why don't you upload that fine work to the net so others can enjoy it?

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

Any chance you can upload your version?
