Were They Trying to Not Blame Carrie? Did Anyone Else Know She Was Alive?
As I watched the movie, I was amazed that none of the survivors were telling the truth of what they saw. I don't think they were protecting Carrie, but my thought was that among all of them, some were mean to Carrie/weren't exactly nice to her/didn't help her in any way to feel loved and wanted and surely they did miss their dead teachers and friends, but maybe they all were taking responsibility for their wrongs which egged Carrie on to try defending herself, even though it was wrong and they were refusing to blame her. They just wanted to move on and get all of this behind them. Just like Sue Snell told Carrie, "It's not your fault, not all of it". For those that thought she died, that was the end of the event for them. For those who knew she was alive, they maybe hoped she would find good friends wherever she was going.
