None of the kids deserved to die!!

There were only a select group of kids who were responsible, but even THEY did not deserve to die. Jail time? Yes. Death? No. Punishment has to fit the crime. You don't kill all but 11 kids at the prom because you were humiliated. If Carrie were psychologically a stable person, she would have run screaming in humiliation from the prom. There would be hell to pay for the guilty ones, yes.
PARKCHEF in another post is the only one I've seen post to that effect.

No, they did not deserve to die, but I suppose you have never been tormented the way Carrie was. Besides, the movie shows only a VERY VERY SMALL PART of the bullying. Carrie had been relentlessly tormented almost every day since she started grammar school, and before that she was abused by her mother. And no, she was not exactly "psychologically a stable person", probably anyone would go crazy after 14 years of steadily increasing abuse.

You bleeding hearts are pathetic. That little *beep* chris TOTALLY deserved to die as did Carrie's psycho mom. Tommy shouldn't have died & neither should most of the prom goers but chris & all her lackeys totally deserved death. Jail? Please! Death is the ultimate punishment & death is what chris got. Unfortunately a lot of innocent kids died but a lot of douche bag kids died, too - bullies take heed!!!

"Deserve"? Well, rather than quote Gandalf at you, I'll just point out that this movie is hardly a morality tale. It's a sci-fi horror (generally speaking) and people die because that's how the plot was written. The innocent and guilty alike die all the time, in real life as in the movies, and frequently has nothing to do with "deserve."

I always felt that one of the lessons of Carrie in every adaption is that none of the kids deserved to die but Carrie/Rachel(in Carrie 2) lost complete control because of the torment she suffered at their hands. It was a domino effect that was started by those brats; did their actions deserve death, no....but Carrie wasn't out for justice but revenge.
