Did anyone else notice...

That the poetry Carrie wrote was actually lyrics from "CARRIE THE MUSICAL". I had my head turned durring that part and the minute the guy started reading it I jerked my head around and thought WOW..... Nicely done. Good little tribute to the Broadway show!

HOWEVER, I in no way mean to imply I liked this better than the origional. It was OK and fun for what it was, but it does not hold a CANDLE to The "Sissy" version!

I didn't notice that at all. thanks for pointing that out! that's cool. and i actually liked this version a lot. i agree it wasn't better than the original but i liked it....i didn't like that they let carrie live in the ned...but i liked the rest of the movie. but you're right the original is classic and i'm not sure if anything can beat it!

Actually, Carrie's poem is from the book. It's not a tribute to the Broadway musical. The Angela Bettis "Carrie" movie is very accurate and faithful to the book, and it surely didn't miss Carrie's poem.

The musical also used the poem. The Sissy Spacek movie, however, did not. I always liked it that they kept Carrie's poem from the book in the Bettis version....

I was not aware of that! I've read the book twice and I don't remember that at all. I have, however, watched the musical OVER AND OVER and that is one of my favorite segments from it.... well they do those specific lyrics a few times, but the part that's in "evening prayers" is AMAZING, well, that and "And Eve Was Weak."! THAT'S my favorite song from it!
