SCREW HBO!!!

Just finished this brilliant, amazing show. I'm soooooo pissed that HBO canceled it. By far the coolest and most unique show i've ever seen, it was absolutely incredible in every single way.

I'm reading the interview with knauf someone else posted in a thread below and it's disgusting that HBO refused to do anything with the rights. What's the harm in letting them go?

I'm shocked he has so little negative things to say about HBO. He's all, "no one else would have given us a chance in the first place." I can understand feelings of gratitude for that and not wanting to burn any bridges, but damn, to have some company owning the rights to YOUR own damn story and not allowing you to tell that story in any form HAS GOT to be absolutely maddening. Knauf must be one hell of a nice, tolerant guy.

"By today’s standards, on what the numbers of an HBO show go, we’d be considered probably one of the top shows, with the numbers we had"

This is so painful to read. It wasn't low ratings that killed Carnivale, it was bloated expectations.

He probably had sufficient funds and time to make this show. Not to mention all of the talent of the stage workers and, of course, his cast of pro actors.

His work came out just the way he wanted it to. I'm sure he feels more disappointed at his ratings than at the company that gave him an amazing opportunity to make a large-budget show.

That's not entirely true. HBO meddled quite a bit especially in the second season.

Yeah Clancy Brown said that BUT I'm less sure about that after Kanuf's recent interview.

I mean maybe he just made piece with his past and looks on the brigther aspects of his time with the show (and HBO).
But it could also be that Knauf was so nice to HBO in the interview to have a higher chance to revive "Carnivale" or do another unrelated show with them.
But if the latter was the case I have no clue why he should be more satisfied with the second season. He described that the second one came much closer to what he wanted than the first one did.

Welcome to the club! We feel your pain, been feeling it for years now.

Not only did we lose a good show, we were cut off at the knees (like Management) by not knowing how things turned out with Ben, Sophie and Justin.....
