HBO cancelling this show...

Worst decision it has ever made.

This is gonna *beep* do for him what "Jade" did for David Caruso.

I'm not sure why viewers would trust HBO to begin watching a new series with their reputation for quickly pulling the plug on their series. I've started to watch the HBO series when they came to Amazon Prime and this is the second one I've been burned on being canceled with no ending and leaving plot lines hanging. The first was Deadwood. This is why I would never pay a subscription to watch HBO programming.

I agree with this.

Not to mention the few shows that they do keep on tend to decline in quality before they end. *cough*trueblood*cough*

You have to be right on this one.

How could they rationalize canceling a show that only had 1 season to go? Even if they were going to lose money on it. Why not finish it up? Makes no sense.

You are refering to Deadwood, right?
Yeah I never understood that either.

Carnivale on the other hand had 4 seasons to go - what a shame. :(

reply

From what I understand that was the series finale. Deadwood was supposed to conclude with two movies.

No, actually Daniel Knauff saw every 2 seasons as the end of a chapter in a book that would span several more years with the show. The next chapter was going to be Sophie bringing Justin back to life and the struggle would continue. HBO claimed the series was completed to put a bow on it. But in actuality HBO wanted to continue the show but slash the budget and Daniel Knauff refused to do that and make the show on the cheap. So while HBO made a boneheaded move Daniel Knauff didn't help things either with the clash of the egos.

HBO makes a lot of stupid decisions. How they can justify cancelling this quality show so quickly while crap like "Sex and the City" ran for years? It's all in the ratings, I guess. Trash sells.
