I really thought he was going to be an important character somewhere down the line. Or at least get a story or subplot or something. Did we even see him "perform" ? He just disappeared in season 2. I'm sure that character would have made a decent plot.
shareGuess it all depends on acting ability vs. human interest. The actor had scales, and was an anomaly, but he probably didn't have much to contribute to the storyline.

There's a thread here with an interview with Knauf and this is brought up. Basically HBO told them to trim the characters before beginning season 2 so they had to drop Gecko and the twins even though he had plans for them, he also mentions Lodz was killed in season one for the same reason.
