If you like atmospheric dark mystery a bit like David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive) or blasting audio visual treats like Leones Western (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), the original Star Wars films or The Lord of the Rings -> watch this show!!!

Tons of characters that are all fully fleshed out and realized.
No cheap shots, just great writing.
Beautiful cinematography and settings.
It was the most expensive show on the air at the time.
The writer knew what he was gonna do for the whole series before it started, so the foreshadowing and mysteries are legit, rather than the write-as-you-go style.
The creator had a vision with large scope, and he achieved it.
Almost all things are answered before it was cancelled, so you don't feel like you were left hanging, IMO.
Oh, and by the end, you feel like you were a part of the group.
You're sad when it finishes.

If you are coming because you think this is like Freak Show Nope. Do not bother. This is a show on a different league. It has great writing, cinematography, soundtrack, acting, and it will slowly wind you into each character's psyche. You will want to let the story continue despite the closure at the end. It is the battle of good and evil but structured in such a way that it is not the same, old tripe.
However.... if you aren't sold by the previous comments, you just want to be entertained in the forum and aren't truthfully curious about the show. So move along.

Agreed. You seem to be looking for a huge response from people trying to convince you to watch the show, but if the descriptions and reviews alone don't interest you enough to check it out you wouldn't enjoy it anyway. You may be someone who prefer shows a little more run-of-the-mill.

Because it's *beep* awesome, mysterious, entertaining, beautiful, and you won't be able to stop thinking about it. It's one of the best and most intriguing shows ever made.

I usually give a damn whether other people like it or not. All that matters is that I like it. But I've got right at five decades of experience under my belt and I generally know what I will like or at least if something's in the right category for me.
