Miles' book, doesn't make sense

I always thought this was strange. When they are presenting their ideas to Miles, he tells them no farms. Everything is going rural these days and it's all just white noise, or something to that effect. But when they find his book, his best idea is about a peach on a farm. Why doesn't he follow his own advice and stay away from farms? Never understood that part.

Maybe he was keeping the farm topic all to himself.

I think that was supposed to be part of the joke. I haven't seen that part in a while, but I believe they also point out the hypocrisy of him declining a tomato or something for being too vulnerable and then comment "What's more vulnerable than a peach?". Unless I'm remembering that scene wrong, dude's probably supposed to be a hypocrite.

I always thought Miles didn't make sense in fitting the typical roll if a children's writer. Jaded business man? Sure. Thoughtful creative children's book writer? No.

that was the joke of his character

Probably because he's a South Pole elf

He didn't want to share his real ideas. That way, if the deal went south, no one could steal it from him. Unfortunately for him, he left his book behind.

They peach story isn't his best idea, they say his first idea in the book is his best idea. The other writer just happens to highlight another idea in the book, involving a farm, because he's annoyed Miles hated his farm idea.
