I'm wondering why everything took 3 years. The father and son didn't talk for 3 years, Edward was bed ridden for 3 years, he worked for the circus for 3 years and I'm sure there were more. Does anyone think there is a reason why it was always 3 years?

According to some schools of thought, 3 signifies completion or the perfecting of something. Perhaps each 3 year segment represented that he completed whatever he was supposed to learn.

I'm no expert, but . . . .
