Only Tim Burton movie I really like...

Sorry all you Burton fanatics out there, but try as I might I never like his films as much as I think I will. Esp not Charlie &

Big Fish, though, is a masterpiece.

Same here. I'm not a fan of Tim Burton at all, but Big Fish is one of my favorite movies ever :)

reply

I agree. Burton is way over-hyped. The only films of his that I truly enjoyed have been Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish. Half of his works are dubbed "great" just because his name is attached. If it weren't for that, nobody would care.

"Haha... Optimus Prime."

Not true.

Come and visit your good friend Sweeney.

reply

Agreed!! Tim Burtons films are awesome

reply

This is certainly my favorite of the last 10 years. Mostly because it is so different.

It certainly ranks up there with Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Ed Wood.

Big Fish was awesome and I like a lot of the Burton stuff but some of his movies are just the same.

I really liked Burton's early stuff, Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood especially, but he's become a caricature of himself lately - Big Fish was the point in which he seemed to be growing up, and I hoped that with it he would start making more interesting and mature movies, but unfortunately it was an isolated case so far. So Big Fish is definitely his best film in the last fifteen years.

Sweeney Todd is awesome.

I agree. I adore Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands and Batman- they're amazing! But he gets on my nerves with a lot of his stuff. OH! And Beetlejuice is great :)

reply

I am a big Burton´s fan but it´s not the same since Charlie and the chocolate factory. I think his best are Big Fish and Beetlejuice (two without Johnny Depp in them, ironically).

reply

It hasn't been the same, ever. All his films have been very different from each other, including the two that were supposed to be part of the same series. Its been different since much longer than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The thing about Tim Burton why he is such a well known/ bigged up director is that he has the ability to create these bizarre worlds that we could never dream about, it interest/amazes audiences. I have seen no Director with such creative imagination like him.

I agree 1 or 2 films are not as great as the others but with charlie and the chocolote factory he created it the way it should of been created not like the original , it was exactly how roald Dahl would of wanted it to be. :)

Anyway A great director. :)

reply

Roald Dahl said he was disappointed in the original movie because it placed too much emphasis on Willy Wonka. Imagine how he would've reacted to the new movie where more than HALF of it is about Willy Wonka's back story. He would have very much hated the awkardness and awfulness of Tim Burton's picture, as well.

Well his family liked it and He would have liked it as well because it was true to his book.

Agree that Charlie and the Choccy Factory didn't make the grade, fantastical as it was, but why has no-one mentioned A Nightmare Before Christmas? This was classic and Tim Burton all over. Also, The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories is a classic poetry book by Tim...

Probably because he didn't direct it.

Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.
