For me the film had everything including big laughs and a bigger cry. It's a beautiful story told in a bigger than life way. And I believe the overall idea it presents is a very strong positive message. It's funny to me that some people say it was boring, so I'd love to hear a little bit more about everyone else...
Originally from Alabama now in AS for 32 yrs give it a 9. I have been to Wetumpka, Montgomery, Prsttville and Cloverdale many times. The house is in Wetumpka. The route to the river at the end is funny to me because they drive by the courthouse...if they had turned right there instead of left to go in front of the courthouse they would have ended up in the river. That is in Wetumpka the county seat for Elmore county. TMI?
This is one of my favorite movies. I came across this about a year after my father passed away. My sister told me I should watch it and tell her who I thought the main character reminded me of. Well, it was clear that Ed Bloom was my dad. In fact, if I would have written a screenplay about my dad, the writer of Fish may have sued me for plagiarism.
I don't know how many times I've watched it. I cry every time. Some people don't get it... they search for some moral or meaning and I suppose there is one, or possibly many, but for me it was simply about learning to appreciate that Big Fish. I can't remember how many times me and my sister rolled our eyes at our dad's tall tales or felt embarrassed in front of our friends as he spun another unbelievable yarn. How I wish that I could hear one more of those stories again.
