You mean that Mr. Calloway was a shapeshifter? Well that was probably one of the elements that didn't need any tweaking and was better off left out in the end. Maybe he only did it at night?

It is hilarious; watch that part again. He takes Ed bullet for him (as a werewolf) then plays fetch all night. "Did I kill anyone?"

I got he was a werewolf or something but it was really random (more random than anything else in the movie.) If he wasn't a wolf, would that have made any difference to the plot? The giant's size helped stand the house up and moved a car out of the way. The wolfness didn't exactly come up as helpful in any way. We could have gotten the message "people aren't mean they just are misunderstood" a different way.
