A theory about the town, spectre.

More plausible theory number 1: now this idea stemed from researching theory 2 because apparently shoes hung on a wire means someone has died in that area. So considering everyone there has their shoes on the wire are they all dead? And the town of spectre is heaven? Now some more evidence to back this up (there's probably more but I haven't seen the film in a while):
The town keeper or mayor or whatever said that they weren't expecting him yet and he knew that he was not going to die like that because he saw his death in the witches eye so therefore he's early to heaven and that's not when he's meant to die.
To support that the road he took was the one That nobody has came out or alive and it's because they all went to spectre (heaven)
And finally when he comes back in sees the town in ruin as if it never existed and that's because you can only see the town when you're dead, he never gave up his shoes meaning that he never fully died he was just in a temporary state.

Any thoughts or opinions regarding this theory? And evidence I missed?

Yes I've always considered it a Heaven metaphor. Everything is so nice that it is too nice; thereby no one is living life by accomplishing anything.

What about Norther Winslow? He left town too if I'm not mistaken. Does that mean he came back to life too?

He did give up his shoes, or rather Jenny took them and threw them up. And Norther left as did Jenny, and the mayor and the woman (Missi Pyle) to go to Edward's funeral. Obviously Spectre is supposed to be a mystically perfect place, but they obviously aren't dead.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Seemed like ''heaven'' on the first watch too but maybe it's a metaphor for an intellectually stifling gated community.
