Question about the High Court of Angels in the end

At the end, when Prior goes to the high court and speaks with the angels, the angels are portrayed by the same actors playing Louis, Hannah, and Belize. There are also a couple other angels present and I was wondering why they aren't played by Harper and Joe. Any ideas?

reply

I'd say it's probably for the same reason Roy Cohn wasn't. Not all of them are Angels.

I think it would have been corny if all of the main cast were there as angels.

I agree it might have been corny, but I just don't understand what the deciding factors were in who got to be an angel and who didn't. How is Louis any more 'angel worthy' than Harper or Joe?

reply

He's not really. Especially in comparison to Harper who didn't do anything wrong to anyone. When you think about it, they were all played by people that Pryor cared about or liked. Streep was the Mormon mother he befriended. Wright was his gay friend. Louis was his boyfriend. Thompson was the angel already.
