Angels In America is by far the WORST television series of 2003!

Of course, some people are going to strongly dislike my review of this overrated miniseries, but so be it.

Angels In America, written by Tony Kusher, is by far the worst television miniseries of 2003.

The reason, first of all, the acting is atrocious, despite all of the "emmys" it won.

Secondly, Mr. Kushner, uses this miniseries, to blast Christians and conservatives alike, anyone who disagrees with his prisoner-takes-all, extremist approach to the birth of AIDS.

The AIDS virus actually started in the mid 1970's but didn't catch on until years later.

This miniseries blames the American government for the spread of this disease, and anyone who dares disagree with it's point of view is viewed as a close minded bigot.

Today, there are over ten million people around the world currently affected with the HIV virus, however, is that the fault of the America government?!

No, it's not! I'm sorry, but the only close minded person is playwright, Tony Kushner, whose support of communism in the 1990s got him blacklisted from many college campuses.

The AIDS virus claimed more lives during the Bill Clinton administration than any other time in it's history. He also signed the highly controversial Defense of Marriage Act of 1996.

However, Mr. Kushner often claims Clinton as a champion of gay rights.

That's why I view Tony Kushner as a hypocrite.

That is the reason why this miniseries is so awful and close minded.

I'm sorry if some people disagree with my opinion, but I'm entitled to it!

No, NOT every person who didn't like this series is a bigot, just you. I say this because of YOUR REASONS for not liking it. Just curious, why have YOU deleted so many of the replys on this message board.......hmmmmm?

Angels In America is by far the best miniseries of 2003.....and of the decade!!

I HATE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS WHO TRY TO BLAME HOLLYWOOD AND THE "INMORAL" PEOPLE LIKE ROCK STARS OF EVERYTHING (VIOLENCE, ETC) INSTEAD OF BLAMING THE GOVERNMENT THAT PROMOTES WARS, VIOLENCE, RACISM, ETC!!!

Calling AiA the best miniseries of the decade is a little excessive, if for no other reason than the first decade of the milennium isn't over yet.

Being a Canadian, I tended to look at this series a bit differently than an American. To be honest, I didn't find it all that compelling. I really enjoyed watching Meryl Streep play a Yiddish-speaking rabbi (astonishing) and Emma Thompson play a soup-slurping homeless person.

I'm old enough to remember well the 1954 congressional hearings featuring Sen. Joe McCarthy, and Roy Cohn always by his side. I think Pacino played this most odious of characters very well. I've always thought that Cohn was a singularly evil man, the hypocrite's hypocrite who condemned gay people while he himself was a well-protected gay man who didn't dare 'come out'. Only in recent years have we heard that Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were probably condemned on flimsy evidence, but it made no difference to Cohn: Ethel was a communist and deserved to die. You don't find that many truly evil people in the world, but Cohn was one of them.

Anyway, the series concentrated so much on illusion and dreams and false people that I was often confused. There are many exchanges in here that are just boring to watch and listen to. When the camera is on Pacino, it doesn't seem to matter what he says. He's just a dynamic actor, and when he's not on the screen the film drags. Only an opinion.

You're right about Clinton turning out to be an *beep* ... now let's look at the post war presidents:

Truman ... the *beep* who enshrined the national security state.

Eisenhower ...lazy, stupid *beep* who played a lot of golf.

Kennedy ... mafia elected *beep* who loved brinkmanship and boning bimbos.

Nixon ... the *beep* *beep*

Ford ... an even stupider *beep* than Ike who couldn't even maintain his balance.

Carter ... not much of an *beep* but was powerless against the *beep* of Washington DC.

Reagan ... almost brain-dead, war-mongering, populist lickspittle to the religious right *beep*

George Bush I ...corporate *beep*

George Bush II ...dim, shifty, lying, mass-murdering environmental-rapist *beep*

Gee ... they almost make that Clinton *beep* look good.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

Nowhere in your political rant did you ever give any cinematic reason as to why you thought this was the worst miniseries ever, except for your critique of the actors, which is, I think you will find, and justifyingly so, a minority opinion.

What credentials do you have that would make us take you seriously? I have read many fine critiques of film here in which references are made to other masterpieces of the genre. I, for example, have seen nearly every important film and television movie made. It is this depth of study which I call an informed opinion, that make me take the opinions of those who HAVE studied the great films more seriously than those who have not. How many of the great cinematic works of art - films like Citizen Kane, Potemkin, Wild Strawberries, and All About Eve - have you seen? t must have been excrutiating for you to sit through all six hours of this miniseries, but, you must have, right? You would not critique something that you have not seen ALL THE WAY THROUGH, would you?

You do not have to agree with the politics to appreciate whether or not a work of art is truly great. I find the Nazi propaganda of The Triumph of the Will repugnant, but I also acknowledge that The Triumph of the Will is one of the greatest documentaries ever made. Perhaps this level of sophistication, this level of understanding is lost on you. Your ranting leads me to believe this is so.

Also, your phrasing, especially when you talk about Reagan and Clinton and AIDS, sounds suspiciously familiar. Could it be that you are ReaganRevoltion, the guy who posts daily lovefest posts to his favorite president? What do you do, Mr. Revolution, troll these boards for films and television shows that are slanted to the left and then leave noisy diatribes as to their worthlessness?

Fantastic post.
