Apparently Thugs value honor even they have odds in their favor

In the opening scene,Steve hires around 10 armed men to steal the gold..But after helping them, they just leave taking a pittance even though they had the guns and they dont mind killing people and could have either killed Steve or forced him to give them a bigger cut

In the final scene,Mashkov's men outnumber them with guns. However,he takes a small briefcase worth of gold where he could have just killed the entire gang or forced them to give a bigger share..After all,Mashkov is a underground mafia don and Charlie and his gang couldnt have done anything...

Remember that Charlie and his gang were "paying back" the guy that killed Mashkov's cousin.

For this reason alone, he may have had a certain level of respect and appreciation and thus decided that it was not worth it to punish those doing him a solid.

... even though they had the guns ...
Steve actually says this, when trying to convince the Ukrainians to switch sides. May be the Russians or the Chechens might not have been so principled. 🐭

Yeah, but I am pretty sure that nobody would have sided with Steve at that point if he knew that he killed his cousin. The only other viable option would be to kill Charlie and his gang AND Steve too.

Said the same thing on another thread.🐭
