A bit weary about a sequal

Anyone else here a bit concerned about this much talked about sequel? A bit of background: I'm not a big movie fan at all and I especially don't care for the 3d animated film genre, but the Incredibles is my absolute favorite film of all time. I have seen this thing thirty or forty times.
That said....I have never really seen the need for a sequel. I mean, personally I think they captured lightning in a bottle with this and the story is very well self contained. I'm sure I will watch The Incredibles II or what ever it will be called, but I just hope they don't screw things up the same way other sequels have ruined entire stories for me :{

I agree. I feel like every movie nowadays are sequels and it's getting old. Some movies are just fine by themselves. I do like the incredibles but I don't think it NEEDS a sequel.

Being a super hero film makes this film lend more towards a sequel than most Pixar films, but I get the fear. The Incredibles has always been my favorite Pixar film so my standards are high for a sequel. That said, I also think people over react to sequels and remakes too much. The existence of such things doesn't hurt the original in any way and, if you really don't want to, you don't have to see the new films. I have faith in this one though as Pixar did wait until Brad Bird really wanted to do it and in Bird I trust.

On a side note, animation is not a genre.

I may or may not see the sequel.

Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Pantera, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan.

How is it that you saw this 30 times and don't want more? The sequel could be better than the original! Look at Dark knight, Aliens, Terminator 2. They all were as good, if not better than the originals.

Some sequels are decent, but some (like Iron Man 3) actually ruined the original film for me. I envy people who can unsee things loL

I think this, and Inside Out, are the only Pixar films where I can see there being a sequel and it working.

It'd have to be about the kids growing up and dealing with their powers, maybe getting outed. Tbh I dunno for Incredibles.

Inside Out is easier. Riley as a teenager with hormones. Boom. Movie.

Yeah, a lot people have high hopes for the sequel. I'm not feeling too good about it. I would have liked a sequel if they hadn't waited 15 years to make one! They should have made a sequel sooner. Like seriously, why'd they wait so long? I hope they don't mess this up! I love the Incredibles!

They waited because Brad Bird had to convince himself thant he could make a wonderful movie. The guy ONLY makes really-good-to-GREAT movies. They offered him ten-dumptrucks-full in money after the first one was a hit, and Bird, to his great credit, refused. The man has integrity, which is one of the reasons why his movies, like The Iron Giant, rock, and which is as rare in the entertainment business as a gorgeous virgin in a brothel.
