Sorry for my Englisch. This is Boll. From now on this ID will be used by iether me or a direct asistent.
I know the 1st 3 games adaptations did not satisfy all gamers. I know what I did and I like it. I will also make more films.
But after Postal and In the Name of the Knig and more positive reviews I realize that for my next game I need more input.
So, if you can keep it coool, than I'm open to comments on my films. Also, if you have ideas or request for my new films, ask me.
Alone 2, Tunnel Rats and Far Cry are already in postproduktion, no changes. But movies that wil start soon and you can have influence on are Bloodrayne 3 and Sabotage.
Also, if you watched House of the Daed 1 and 2, which one was better and why? Because we're thinking of a 3rd film.
Glad you liked House of the Dead. Personally I thought it was a good film with a comical load. Zombie Massacre will be more serious and dark.
About a 3rd HotD film. There are ALWAYS scripts and stories. We have a script for House of the Dead 3.
But we're very busy with other films and don't have much time left. Also, honestly, I believe that the sequel to my film, was not good at all. Instead of continuing the serie, they only tried to be better and failed because of the serious tone.
I hope you understand that doesnt motivate me to make a 3rd right now. But as you knwo I don't direct Alone in the Dark 2, but I do produce it. If AitD2 turns out to be a success, I'll put that team on HotD 3. In that case I'll only produce, but it'll stil be my pet project.
I'll know more in 2009, but we're now focussing on the films listed on my imdb-page.
My favorite zombie-movies:
Dawn of the Dead original Dawn of the Dead remake, it was fast and cool, with flaws but that's ok. Pet Sematary 1 Braindead Michael Jackson's Thriller clip!!!!!!! Zombie Love (hilarous short film/musical) Night of the Creeps
Hey Uwe, I HATED "House of the Dead" the first time I saw it. But then a couple of years pasted and I watched it again. And the second time I enjoyed it alot more because I understood it was just a big, camp, over the top, pop art movie. I think the film two MAJOR FAULTS were the poster. Within itself its a cool poster. But its TOO serious for the type of film it was. I set the audience up for a fall. And that DAMN VIDEO GAME FOOTAGE! Who ever idea that was should be SHOT ;) Do you know when "House of the Dead: Funny Version" is coming out.
Could you explain what was cut out of the U.S. "R" rated version of House of The Dead, and why was it changed from 2.35:1 aspect ratio to 1.85:1? I love this film, and always wondered these things. Thanks for your time.

P.S. And to answer YOUR question "House of The Dead 1" was FAR BETTER than "House of The Dead 2". Part 1 was a crazy, wild , fun, slapstick, off-the-wall zombie flick, and Part 2 was cheap, bland, television quality, and just plain bad. Part 2 tried to take itself more serious, yet it totally missed the point. Part 1 was atleast a riot! I think a Part 3 (combining the craziness and gore of the first film with an actual storyline from one of the games would be a perfect match.) Just my opinion.
Hi Mr. Boll, I just bought House of the Dead 2 weeks ago. While people didn't like it, I still find it entertaining to watch, especially the 10 minute zombie killing scene. I liked the actress who played Karma in the movie, she looked pretty tough during action scenes. If you were to do a House of the Dead 3, I'd say keep Emmanuelle Vaugier's character. In my opinion, she's a great actress (God, I'd love to meet her one day). She's in your other movie Far Cry, so I'll definitely be watching it. Other things would be not using game footage, less slow motion, more character development, and maybe some scarier elements and zombies being used. Well that's it from me. Take care and have a good day!
I'm not sure whether you truly are who you say you are, or if you're another one of those various dorks who like to pretend. I could say that I'm John F. Kennedy SR. hiding in Area 51, but that doesn't make what I say true.
On reflection, responding to this forum is also foolish, given that you are a complete stranger. But if you are indeed Boll, then at least I could communicate my views to you, and maybe hope that this could be constructive. If not, well, I'm merely pissing in the wind.
I found the first HOTD to be repulsive as a film. It seemed as if you had only done a half-assed job in considering the lighting, the responses and reactions of the actors, the movements, etc. I understand there were problems in production, but these could easily have been avoided (with the exception of the weather). However, I suppose on some level it is better than your later efforts, especially Alone In the Dark (as a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, I was very disappointed). I have not seen Postal, but from reading one of the quotes, particularly the section where two terrorists are arguing about virgins, it could be a good film. House of the Dead 2, though, was a far better film in terms of its direction, humour, and writing. Certainly, there were some flaws, but it has its tongue firmly planted into its cheek, making it a much more enjoyable film. The director, I feel, has an interesting visual style. If a HOTD 3 is possible, I think it would benefit from having Mike Hurst back as director and retaining one of the games' stories, just more expanded.
A fact is that right here on imdb I can't prove who I am. Another fact is that I DO respect all who aproach me in a decent and mature way. I will also gladly answer all questions.
I'm sory if you didn't like HotD. It was a bit of a experiment. Even if people didn;t like it, we ABSOLUTELY did our best. Objectively, I don't think that HotD2 was better, but thats a personal opinion.
I understand the critics for AitD. We had more problems during production and it shows. I DO hope you get to see Postal. Postal is less serious and more a global mockumentary.
I can assure you that there won;t be a HotD3, not from us. We're now focussing on Far Cry, Postal and Bloodrayne 3, also Zombie Massacre.
"The chance of us making a 3rd House of the Dead is small. "
Your right the chances of you (or your company) making House of the Dead 3 are very small. I think it has alot to do with the fact you dont own the film licence to the franchise, Mark A. Altman dose. I think that you are forgetting that you were bought into the orinigal 'House of the Dead' after production had started. You seem to have also forgotten that you or your company had nothing to do with part 2. If your going to pretend to be Uwe Boll do your homework.
Listen if your going to pretend to be Boll, at least do some homework. If you were Boll you would know who I am. Is you life so empty you have to pretend to be Boll? I bet your go giggle about this to your buddies on the Hanna Montana boards.
House of the dead is a big title. It popularity was gained by the amazing lightgun arcade shooter with the same name. Why would you want this movie only to be an experiment? It was such a big deal in the video game indistry and to see a nice film based off of it would have been great. But just as an experiment? IMO the movie wasn't that bad but everyone hated it and that could hurt the game's success too. You really should have put all you had in his movie because it really could have been good, and if this was all you hade, shame on you. FYI I don't beleive you are Uwe Boll
We didn't intend to do an 'experiment'. My wish was to make an entertaining thriller/action/horror-film that would appeal to the large audience. The experiment was that we used new styles, camerawork, editing, game-footage etc.
So on one hand we did put 100% in it. On the other hand we 'miscalculated' what people wanted to see. We underestimated the desires and accuracy from the gamer-community.
So we keep putting 'all we have' in films, only different. I hope to please you with Postal and Far Cry in the near future.
Ok, let me ask you this, do you personally like your movies, if so what do you like/dislike about them and I'm also curious why would you want to spend money on a movies budget if the movies profits in the box office doesn't even come close to that of the buget of the film, because House of the Dead was a box office flop
Yes, I like my films. I love filmmaking and put 200% in it, no mattter what others say. What I dislike is that afterwards I sometimes realize that we chose wrong actors or scriptwriters. Various scenes are not alive on screen. Especially some of the dailogu.
Abou money. Well, we have our funds which is now over. But we make a lot of money out of DVD sales. Especialy since Bloodrayne.
Oh yea I acually have a question relating to House of the Dead that has been bugging me for a long time.
When Kirk heard Salish whistling outside and when he went out to check, Salish looks to be a zombie. Was he really a zombie or did Kirk think he was one when he really wasn't. Also is this the reason why Kirk blew himself up, because he made that mistake and didn't figure it out until he had already shot Salish?
