yeah hes still alive
i was at a football game in clemson
and he was sitting behind me, he kept falling asleep
it was so cute

Yup! He's still prowling the sidelines for T.L.HANNA High School in Anderson, SC. I had my first opportunity to see him this past Friday night, during the Gaffney-Hanna ball game.
From what I hear from the folks in the stands, he's a "defensive coach", helps the custodial staff and still attends classes. They also said that the only benefit that he received from the movie was a new house (although that remains unconfirmed).

yah he's definately still alive. and yes he did receive a new house. he lives just down the street from one of my friends. his old one burned down in an electrical fire a couple of years ago shortly after the movie was released and the filmmakers along with a chain of theaters raised over 100,000 dollars for the construction of a new house for his family (he lives with his two brothers and his sister-in-law). i went to t.l. hanna during the filming and release of this film. it was pretty bizarre having stars like cuba gooding and ed harris at our school (they came to town for the premiere). hope this helps.

Great to hear it. I had the pleasure of meeting Radio, Coach and his daughter during the filming of "Radio". I was an extra (that's me witht the long hair and long skirt next to Chris Mulkey aka Frank). Before we started filming Mike Tollin explained what this movie was about so we can get a feel of what was expected of us. Nothing could prepare us for what was to come. The barber shop scene said it all. "Instead of us teaching Radio, Radio is teaching us". Being a part of this movie was one of the best experiences I have had. Hopefully the movie taught all who saw it or know the story, just because someone is different, does not give you the right to be cruel and hateful.

Yes, he is very much alive and I met him THREE days ago in FRONT of TL Hanna High! And Coach Harold Jones! My friend and I went to Columbia, South Carolina for Thanksgiving and we drove two hours to Anderson to meet the real Radio. We called the coach and he was gracious and kind enough to bring Radio with him and came and met us at the high school. It was a wonderful experience that we will always cherish.

It's 2008 and Radio is still very much alive. A few months ago, I received a signed and personalized photo from Coach Harold Jones and James Robert "Radio" Kennedy. They even included signed business cards and were kind enough to sign my DVD sleeve from the movie.

Radio is an inspiration. God bless him and Coach Jones.

If it's useless information, chances are I already know it!
