soon as bruce said yes to all prayers in the world? They show pissed off people because everyone that prayed won the lottery, but there are much bigger things to worry about. People pray for other's deaths, the destruction of countries, for all kinds of things. Saying yes to every single prayer would have destroyed the world.

Really though, bruce is the worst person to be given these powers and I can't believe that if this was all to teach him a lesson this god killed thousands of people in a huge flood to do so. Although that kind of sounds like the god of the bible. The average person would not have abused them as bad as he did. Hell I would have fun creating things out of nothing. Kirk Cameron will have his crocoduck.

That scene was poorly written for several reasons.

1) It assumes that every single prayer is a wish that can be answered with "yes" or "no", which is completely ridiculous.

Let's assume all prayers ARE wishes and that "yes" means the wish is granted, there are further problems:

2) HOW are they granted? Let's take something simple: A kid prays for a bike. What does answering "yes" mean? Will a bike suddenly appear out of nothing? Will it's parents have a sudden urge to buy a bike? What kind of bike will it be? And that's something simple. What if people pray for something abstract like "I wish people would be more tolerant" ?

3) What about contradicting wishes? As in: several thousand people pray for their team to win and another thousand for the other, what will happen?

Yes, but didn't God say that all the prayers he was hearing were from his town? I don't remember the exact quote, but Jim Carrey says, "I think I can help the world," and Morgan Freeman says, "that wasn't the whole world, that was just Buffalo," or something along those lines.

When Bruce accessed the Yahweh email on his computer, he first answered all of Buffalos prayers. Then he went to answer the worlds prayers which is where he entered Yes to all.

What? No. He was working through the prayer list and he barely made a dent in it, because there were so many. Then he said "Fine, yes to all." It was never "the world."

I think what people have forgotten is that when God gave Bruce his powers, he limited them to the greater Buffalo area. When they are talking later in the film, God points this out. He wasn't giving Bruce power over the world, just a small part of it.
