LAURA LINNEY RUINS IT!!!

Oh My God how bad is she though???? LIKE SERIOUSLY. She plays this really oppressed white woman who wears knit sweaters and acts like she's shocked by her own existence. My friend Helen and I, who always knit and watch films, kept going "OH COME ON!" Every time Laura Linney came back on screen. At one point we turned it off for a break. THAT BREAK LASTED 6 FUCKING Years!!!! GOD DAMN IT!! AND once again, we try to watch it on Prime. Hugh Grant is making us laugh and suddenly he's never seen again. But Laura Linney does! SHE KEEPS SHOWING up in those terrible knit winter sweaters and bemused look of dopiness.

LAURA, ACTUALLY is what this should be called! HEY LOOK IM A FUNNY AUTHOR

Oppressed? She wasn’t nor did she act like she was. I think you have used the wrong word because oppressed means “subject to harsh and authoritarian treatment.” How would you even come up with that? Also, here in England during Christmas time, it’s cold. People wear jumpers/sweaters daily.

reply

Bet the o.p. meant repressed instead of oppressed.

reply

She may be feeling the strain of supporting her mentally ill brother, but she is not oppressed. You are aware that it can be cold in the UK at Christmas, hence the knit wear.

Hugh Grant is making us laugh and suddenly he's never seen again

Like the other stories, Hugh's story appeared periodically throughout the movie. At no time was it a case of suddenly he's never seen again.

reply

Laura was the best and most real character and the only one deserving love.

reply

Absolutely. I would have preferred a movie that was solely about her character & her story.

reply

"White" women are the only oppressed group in the world as of this century.

reply

Oppressed? Not...She just needed some c*ck!!

She should've poured thousands of hours into mastering Kung Fu starting when she was a kid, to deal with her brother.

So by the time that Xmas rolled around, she would've been able to use only 1 arm to block all his punches (like Neo does to Agent Smith in The Matrix, immediately after being reborn and becoming The One) while using the other arm to caress the Latino guy and make out with him nonchalantly.

As Batman has taught us time and again, prepping is everything.

She really should have given herself some time off from her brother who seems to need constant attention.
