So..exactly when did they cross over from Friends to more?

Im confused because I just saw the movie recently and it feels like the movie is missing a scene. (Unless I actually did miss one).
When Lucy goes crying to her friend about George after she catches him with the new lawyer, the friend says something like 'I had to fight for __ too', acknowledging that Lucy is in love with George and had her heart broken. The problem is, when was this established between them?

I know he saw her in the dress and said she looked pretty, but it feels like we're missing a scene before that acknowledgement where Lucy's new feelings are exposed to the audience. anyone else get that?

The scene where she realizes she likes him is when he agrees to let her quit and they hug. She hangs on a little longer and realizes she has feelings for him. It's very subtle and probably could've been acted a little better, but it's there.

OK thanks, I'm going to have to see it again. That always bothered, because I felt like they did a great job of portraying friends who should be in love, but I could never understand when that important jump was really made.

I think that's the point. We're supposed to be so comfortable with their friendship (as they are) that we don't realize exactly when it happened...because they don't either. haven't you ever had a best friend, that's always just been a best friend and then all of a sudden, it just hits you that you love them? no warning or anything? that's what happened.

BUT! The scene in the bathroom is exactly where we and the characters realized their relationship was a bit more than professional...it was subtle, but that's exactly what was intended.

I saw it again and I think it was too subtle. I wish they had just put a little something in there, maybe an acknowledgment to one of her friends or something.

Sorry for the necro but it's that subtlety that makes me actually LIKE this romcom.

Romcoms are notorious for shoving their point down your throat till it's out your arse and it makes them utterly unenjoyable. This was a rare occasion where those people who don't need their storylines fed to them with a spoon shaped like an airplane we able to watch a romantic movie without cringing as much.

"Sorry for the necro but it's that subtlety that makes me actually LIKE this romcom. " I agree with this comment. In a lot of movies these days characters will literally have to narrate their thoughts and explain their actions wherein the audience must be TOLD everything.

I'm not trying to imply anything here, but it's nice when the audience isn't blatantly told every single little thing in the movie and is left to figure things out for themselves. After all, it generates discussion on these imdb boards, right? ;)

there is no such thing as friendship between man and woman, and from the first time they met, she told him she rather have sex with him and he tell her that would be nice. i know it was supposed to look sarcastic but people specially women are more complicated than that

That’s just childish and sad. I have male and female friends and I feel so sorry that you aren’t capable of that. Shame.
