Trout Walker's foot odor

If I remember this right, from years back when I read the book, they call him Trout Walker because his feet smell really bad, like dead fish. The movie doesn't mention this. Stanley Yelnats III is trying to find a cure for foot odor, which just so happens to be a problem that Clyde Livingston also needs a cure for. (Unless maybe it was just a marketing pitch...) So it always seemed odd to me that with they way that everything in this story came full circle and all the loose ends were tied together, there was no real significance of Trout Walker having smelly feet.

Anybody else notice that?

Well, the secret to curing foot odor turned out to be a combination of peaches and onions, and Trout Walker was the central antagonist to Sam and Kate's union (i.e. Sam was famous for his onions and Kate for peaches). So I guess the significance is that the solution to Trout's problem was the very thing he so vehemently opposed.
