Did this scare you?

I remember as a 12-year old watching this on television a late evening, and i was on the verge of a nervous breakdown!

So of course i come here on IMDb to look at the rating, and i see 4.9 !!!

I though it was much better, and SO scary!

Please tell me that other people found this movie frightening!

I think i was about 11-12 as well, and yes this was probably the horror movie that had the biggest influence on me back then. I was *beep* scared, if i recall right you don't see the evil buggers untill the very end of the movie, which i think is a BIG plus.

Then again i don't remember much from it and i'm not sure i'd like it if i saw it again, but back then i LOVED it.

I remmeber when they were being stalked throughout the town and when the intruder enters their cabin when they were sleeping you see him or her flash a light in front of their eyes what the heck was that about...

The ONLY movie to really scare me!

Watched it years ago with my Dad, both of us found it very scary, and we're really hard to scare. The only other movie to scare my Dad was 'The Descent'. I recently watched 'The Descent' but didn't find it scary at all. This movie is to date the scariest movie I've seen.

I hope in the year and a half since you posted, you've seen scarier films. If not, you need to watch a hell of a lot more films...

I saw this when I was 13 and I've had a whole bunch of nightmares about it and now that I'm 20 it still sends chills up my spine. I don't know how they did it but this film really was nerve-wracking and scary. The only other film I've said that about was Blair Witch and that was another unseen-force sort of movie. Maybe it's just that.

I don't speak whatever.

Seriously, branch out.
I can't even qualify this film as 'horror', it's so vanilla. American 'horror' is bland and can't hold a candle to foreign horror, with it's originality and quality, of both story and plot, actors and film (set and scenes, no CGI) locations.
Watch films like The Ring or Quarantine's ORIGINAL counterparts. They are vastly superior...You'll kick yourself for being scared of lame crap like this film. It's okay, but NOTHING special...

These days American horror movies might not be scary. But there are plenty of American horror movies from back in the day that are scary and really creepy.

You should tell your dad to stop smoking meth with the windows closed and the whole family in the car! :p

We were in AZ near Lake Mead, just sightseeing and I spotted a plane on the ground, just like the one in Disappearance.
Also, saw several abandoned mines, which also made me think of this movie.
I wasn't scared, but cautious!

Only that I wasted two hours on it.

It had a creep factor going on. but terrifying? nah. it did remind me of a trip I took with my parents once though. I'll never forget it...

When I was a little kid me and my Parents were driving to Canadia. we had 6 more hours to go and it was late at night. it's as if we blinked and we were at the Hotel. we had no idea how we managed to travel 6 hours to the Hotel and have no idea how we got there. we were all so creeped out we drove the entire way home without stopping. to this day my parents don't like to talk about it.

It didn't scare me, but then again I'm 33 and not 12. It probably would have scared me at 12. Anyway, I really liked it too. Great buildup of suspense. I think a lot of people were disappointed with the unexplained ending and though I was slightly disappointed too, I do think it very good overall.
