IFC was showing the movie really late at night so I had recorded it, the problem was the time went a little longer than expected and cut off in the last scene. The scene where all three are on the streets protesting and Michael Pitt is leaving.
What happened next? I really want to know what the ending was.
Life is nothing without a little chaos to make it interesting.
ISABELLE AND THÉO: Dans la rue! Dans la rue! (Hit the streets! Hit the streets!)
RIOTOUS CROWD: Ce n'est qu'un début, continuez le combat! (This is just the start. The fight goes on!)
Théo joins a small group of protesters that are preparing Molotov cocktails and planning their assault. Matthew runs to Théo.
MATTHEW: Théo, this is wrong, this is wrong.
THÉO: No, this is wonderful!
MATTHEW: This is violence! This is violence!
THÉO: It's not violence, it's wonderful. Come with me!
MATTHEW: This is f-cking fascism in a f-cking bottle!
THÉO: Je ne suis pas fasciste! Je suis contre les fascists! Les flics sont des fascistes! (I'm no fascist! I'm against fascists! The cops are the fascists!)
MATTHEW: Yeah, and then police hit people!
THÉO: Shut up! Tu ne peux pas comprendre. Laisse-moi tranquille! (You can't understand. Leave me be!)
MATTHEW: Listen to me for a second, okay? This is what they do. This is not what we do. We use this. (He points to his head.) We do this. (He kisses Isabelle, then Théo, who pushes him away.) We use this. We use this!
THÉO: Arrête! (Stop it!)
MATTHEW: Isabelle, come on. Isa...
Théo takes Isabelle's hand and leads her into the riot. The crowd chants, Théo and Isabelle take cover behind an overturned car, and Matthew turns away to walk back out through the crowd. Théo lights and throws his Molotov cocktail. The police launch tear gas canisters and everything gets completely out of control. Slow motion police assault as the film comes to an end. The final scene is in homage to "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Edith Piaf can be heard singing, "Non, je regrette rien", or "I regret nothing" as the credits scroll down from the top of the screen in reverse order. "Third Stone From The Sun" fades in over the Edith Piaf.
